Dr Graeme Kemp

Head of Library Collections, University of St Andrews

Dr Graeme Kemp is the Head of Library Collections at the University of St Andrews, where he leads strategic collection management, metadata, and digital discovery initiatives. Previously, he served as Senior Manager for Discovery and Systems at the University of Glasgow, following an academic career as a historian specialising in digital approaches to early printed books.

His research examines the intersection of cultural heritage, data science, and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on AI, machine learning, and data visualisation to enhance library collections and workflows. He has advised multiple digital humanities projects and continues to explore the evolving role of AI in cultural heritage and scholarly research.

Most recently, in collaboration with colleagues from University College Dublin, he holds an award from Enterprise Ireland to develop a start-up company focusing on developing a next generation tool for the discovery of heritage materials.
