Dr Jenny McHugh
Community & Advocacy Manager, UK-Ireland Digital Humanities AssociationJenny is the Association’s Community & Advocacy Manager. She leads on stakeholder engagement and community liaison, working with the Community Interest Groups (CIGs), the Advocacy and Engagement Fellowship, and supporting the Association’s events. She also works with external partners such as funding bodies, digital research infrastructures, cultural heritage organisations, the creative industries and the technology sector.
Previously, she worked as Research Data Manager at Lancaster University, where she held a leadership role in the Data Science and AI Institute and was a passionate advocate for accessibility in digital scholarship, digital preservation and FAIR data. She is particularly interested in digital infrastructures, diversity and inclusion in data disciplines, and open research.
Jenny is also a published historian and holds a PhD in fourteenth-century Scottish history from Lancaster University (2023) and an MA in Medieval Studies from Royal Holloway (2018). Before working as a librarian, she held research and teaching roles at Lancaster City Museums, the University of Winchester, Lancaster University, and the University of Huddersfield.
