Valentina Vavassori

Digital Curator for Automatic Text Recognition, British Library

Valentina Vavassori is a Digital Curator for Automatic Text Recognition (OCR/HTR) at the British Library. She is particularly interested in developing workflows for text, speech and music recognition, using ATR for enhancing provenance research, and collaborating with communities to create models for less represented languages.

She previously worked at the National Archives, UK as Digital Scholarship Researcher with a focus on ATR, NLP, User Research, data visualisation and Linked Data.

She originally trained as an Art Historian in Italy and earned her PhD in Digital Humanities at King’s College London.
