Expression of Interest – Governance Working Group

As laid out in our roadmap document, the UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Association aims to establish a formal governance and membership structure during its second year of operation. In keeping with our Core Values, we are inviting expressions of interest from people to participate in a working group to develop that governance and membership structure. This group would develop a draft proposal and would help manage the consultation process on it.

We welcome expressions of interest from anyone interested in contributing and would be particularly excited to receive applications from those working outside of higher education (including GLAM institutions, the creative industries, and the technology sector), those early in their careers, and those with experience working across different disciplines. We also strongly welcome those with experience in running or setting up learned societies, charities, or voluntary organisations.

We anticipate that the work will begin in late November, with the bulk of it taking place between January and May 2024. It’s anticipated that it will be about 5-10 hours per month and include a mixture of meetings, independent research, and writing. All meetings will take place virtually. Members of the working group will be asked to commit to follow the Association’s guidelines on inclusive practice.

The deadline to submit an expression of interest has been extended to Friday, 27 October. Submissions will be review by the Association Collective with an eye to assembling a group that includes representatives from both Ireland and the UK, as well as encompassing a diverse range of perspectives and experiences. We hope to respond to submissions by mid-November.
