As we look ahead to 2027, the DH Association is pleased to share an update with you about our forthcoming events. 

First, we would like to thank all those who attended the 2026 Annual Event at the University of Southampton on ‘Sustainability’ and helped to make it a vibrant and exciting event. Next year, the Annual Event will be going on a brief hiatus so that we can fully support and participate in the ADHO conference being hosted by our colleagues in Galway. This decision reflects our commitment to strengthening the wider digital humanities community. We will also be offering bursaries for UK- and Ireland-based colleagues to attend DH2027, so watch this space for future announcements! The Annual Event will return in 2028, and we look forward to building on the momentum and collaborations that ADHO will foster. 

In the interim, we’re organising a whole new series of events to keep you busy! The UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Association is pleased to announce its pilot Regional Events Series. These one-day workshops, which will be open to all, aim to foster and facilitate new connections and collaborations between digital arts & humanities researchers and practitioners at a regional level. The pilot series will consist of 5 events that will run between 2027 and 2028, hosted by organisations across the geography of the Association. Each meeting will be curated around a particular theme that speaks to the local host’s and Association’s values and advocacy aims. 

This pilot series was inspired by feedback from the Association’s 2024/5 Advocacy and Engagement Survey, carried out by our 2024/2025 fellow Claire Carroll. The survey found that 68% of respondents hoped that the Association would host more networking events and provide more opportunities for inter-institutional collaboration. We’re taking these comments on board and hope that these meetings could provide a model for future Association events on a local level.  

To ensure that the pilot series is inclusive of members across the length and breadth of the Association, events will be split across Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. Bursaries will be available to those attending to further support equitable access. We would also like to encourage participation and involvement from students, technicians, curators, librarians, creatives, or anyone who works in the digital humanities, heritage and culture space from across the UK and Ireland.  

The first two of these events in early 2027 will be hosted at Trinity College Dublin in collaboration with DARIAH-Ireland (Trinity Long Room Hub) on 4 March and at The University of Leeds with the Digital Creativity and Cultures Hub (Brotherton Library) on 7 April. So remember to save the dates and keep an eye on our mailing list and/or social media for announcements about the themes of these events and their calls for participation!
