The UK-Ireland Digital Humanities Association is pleased to announce the 2024 Annual Event, to be held at University College Cork from 4 – 5 June 2024. The theme for this year’s event is Inclusivity Across Sectors, highlighting one of the Association’s Core Values and a key focus of the Association’s work this year.

We are pleased to announce that our plenary event will be a roundtable, focused on the creative and cultural heritage sectors. The roundtable will feature:

• Aoibhie McCarthy, artistic director at Sample Studios will be conducting the session and will speak to the work she has done at the Studios of Sanctuary Programme, which offers the opportunity to access training, mentorship, peer support and studio facilities to artists from asylum seeker, refugee and migrant backgrounds.
• Valerie Byrne is the Cork City Council’s Public Arts Manager and has had a lead role at the Cork’s National Sculpture Factory. She will speak to her initiatives to make the Island City Public Art Programme available to visually impaired visitors.
• Melissa Terras is professor of Digital Cultural Heritage at the University of Edinburgh and will contribute through her expertise working on the project Creative Informatics, which brings together the creative and tech sectors in Edinburgh with a strong focus on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. 
• Francesca Farmer is a research assistant at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum/University of Exeter and will talk about her work on the GLAM-E Lab implementing an open access policy at a small regional local authority run museum.

The event will be held in-person at University College Cork, with portions of the event available to view online.

The fee for attending the event in-person will be £35. Students, early career researchers and professionals, and independent scholars can attend at a discounted rate of £20.

For those unable to attend in person, free online-only tickets are available.

The deadline to register for in-person attendance is 5:00 PM BST on Monday, 20 May 2024.
